Netflix has finally revealed the release date for the long-awaited second season of Natasha Lyonne's time-looping comedy series Russian Doll.

Season 2 will see Nadia (Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) four years after they were left stranded but together in two different timelines.

Here is the logline shared by Netflix in a press release: "Discovering a fate even worse than endless death, this season finds Nadia and Alan delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan’s most notorious locations."

The press release states that the two were stuck in an endless cycle of life and death in Season 1, so the discovery of the time portal was a relief. But they have to find a way out of this "interdimensional prison."

The Hollywood Reporter notes that Lyonne, Amy Poehler and writer/director Leslye Headland had developed the Russian Doll concept for more than two years before pitching it as a three-season show to Netflix. The show first premiered in 2019 and was immediately renewed for its sophomore run.

Greta Lee (Maxine), Rebecca Henderson (Lizzy) and Elizabeth Ashley (Ruth) will join Lyonne's Nadia. Schitt’s Creek’s Annie Murphy, House of Cards Carolyn Michelle Smith and Chappie’s Sharlto Copley are also part of this season's cast.
