Mohit Suri almost shelved Saiyaara

Looking back on the arduous process of making Saiyaara a reality, Suri confessed that he was on the verge of abandoning the concept completely. The filmmaker had given up on the idea of making Saiyaara with newcomers because he didn't come across debutants of acting calibre. Suri couldn't have cast Ahaan and Aneet in Saiyaara without their intimidating performances.

The filmmaker continued by explaining how his creative trajectory changed until a fortuitous partnership with YRF rekindled the project. Before his journey intersected with Yash Raj Films, which was casting for a youthful romance and developing Ahaan and Aneet for the role, he was genuinely considering directing something else.

Strong performances key for debutants

Suri explained that good performances are essential in a romance featuring debutants. "When you make a love story with debutantes, they have to be convincing as actors to pull off the emotional layers and depths that make the love story feel believable. No one expects newcomers to have Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-level of acting but they need to be actors who hold their own on screen."

Bollywood’s Most Passionate Love Stories

Before Suri discovered Ahaan and Aneet's talent, he even resorted to casting well-known actors for commercial reasons. The auditions of them convinced him of their acting, intelligence, and emotional depth, so he spent time with them after meeting YRF. The filmmaker was astonished to discover that Ahaan and Aneet were two young, talented performers who could truly embrace an idea!

Music of Saiyaara strikes a chord

There have been musical waves caused by Saiyaara as well. Arijit Singh has collaborated with Mithoon, Sachet-Parampara, Vishal Mishra, Jubin Nautiyal, and Faheem-Arslan on the soundtrack of the film, which has already begun to gain momentum on the music charts.

The global theatrical release date of Saiyaara is set for July 18, 2025.
