The world digital premiere of Salaam Venky was announced by ZEE5. The platform offers audiences another slice-of-life drama directed by national award-winning director Revathi. Salaam Venky, a film produced by Suuraj Sinngh's [Blive Productions], Shraddha Agrawal's [RTake Studios], and Vishal Kukreja, tells the story of a woman who decides to face difficult circumstances and sacrifice all for her son. Hindi streaming of the film will begin on February 10th, 2023 on ZEE5.

But, did you know that Kajol was the first and the last choice for the film?

Entrepreneur Varsha Kukreja who made her debut as a producer with Salaam Venky was quoted as saying by an entertainment portal: “Kajol was the first and the last choice for ‘Salaam Venky’. There are many incredible actresses in the industry but whoever from the team read the script was of the opinion that if there is one person who can do justice to this script, it’s Kajol. Sujata, the character Kajol plays in the film, is very special and needed an actress of her caliber. I am sure once the film releases, it will be counted as one of the best performances of her career.”

The film, Salaam Venky is based on a real-life story of a young boy who is diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and is characterised by the powerful performances of Kajol and Vishal Jethwa. Along with an appearance by Aamir Khan, the film also has significant performances by Aahana Kumra, Rahul Bose, Rajeev Khandelwal, Prakash Raj, Anant Mahadevan, and Priyamani. Salaam Venky follows Venky (Vishal), a chess player, as he battles a rare condition and fights for euthanasia so that he can donate his organs before gradual muscular degeneration renders them useless. In support of his right to a dignified death, his mother Sujatha (Kajol), a doctor (Rajeev Khandelwal), a lawyer (Rahul Bose), and a journalist (Aahana Kumra) rally.

Salaam Venky was released on 9th December, 2022 in theatres.
