Sandeep Reddy Vanga slams Adil Hussain

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has hit back at seasoned actor Adil Hussain and expressed his regret about casting him in his blockbuster movie Kabir Singh. Sandeep's strong-worded response comes a day after Adil revealed that he carried deep regrets about acting in Kabir Singh.

Sandeep, who is known for being very defensive about his movies, posted a harshly-worded tweet, promising to replace Adil's face in the movie with the help of AI (artificial intelligence).

"Ur 'belief' in 30 art films didn't get as much fame to u as ur 'regret' of 1 BLOCKBUSTER film did. I regret casting u, knowing that ur greed is bigger than ur passion. NOW I'll save U from the shame by replacing Ur face with AI help. Now smile properly," tweeted Sandeep.

Why is Sandeep Reddy Vanga angry at Adil Hussain?

Adil recently appeared on a podcast and discussed his career and creative choices. He revealed that Kabir Singh was the only film in his career that he did without reading the script first, and he regretted that to date. "The only film I regret acting in is Kabir Singh," he said.

Adil said that even though he liked the scene he did, the film as a whole didn't sit well with him. "The scene which I did was good. And I thought the film would also be good. And when I saw the film, I thought to myself, what am I doing here?" he said.

He revealed that he was so embarrassed by the movie that he had no courage to ask his wife to watch it. He also claimed that he walked out of the theatre just after watching the first 20 minutes of the movie.

“I think a film like this celebrates something which is not beneficial for society. It legitimizes male misogyny. It legitimizes violence against anybody, for that matter, doesn’t have to be a woman. And it celebrates it, it glorifies it, and it should not be glorified,” claimed Adil.

Sandeep is one of the polarizing directors in Indian cinema. His films are usually accused of being insensitive to women and glorifying problematic male traits. His recent film "Animal" also created a massive amount of debate, with many taking offence to the way the director had presented his female characters.
