Sanjana Sanghi on Dhak Dhak OTT release - 'We felt the film would not get its due; now, we are relieved'

Two of actor Sanjana Sanghi's projects, Dhak Dhak and Kadak Singh debuted on OTT platforms simultaneously, ensuring a good way to end her year 2023. Interestingly, the former, also starring Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza, and Fatima Sana Shaikh, is currently dominating the streaming platform's hot list.
Dhak Dhak's rocky road to limited theatrical release
Dhak Dhak however, had a rocky road to a limited theatre release, which caused co-producer and actor Taapsee Pannu to express her disappointment. Talking about the same, Sanjana told Hindustan Times that she was devastated, but it also drove home the point that no actor, no matter how talented, can ever truly own their role in a film. The public had little knowledge about the film until its trailer premiered three days before its release. Initially shown on 100 screens, the film's number of screens jumped to 300 due to good word of mouth. The triumph of truthful material was a powerful feeling.
The film's success on social media has made Sanjana quite delighted. They believed the movie would be underappreciated. But now they are relieved. She added that, with Pankaj Tripathi, she is enjoying the success of their most recent OTT film, Kadak Singh. There was a palpable feeling of excitement leading up to its OTT release from the moment of its gala screening at IFFI 2023. She concluded by saying that the heartwarming reviews are absolutely incredible.

Earlier, during an interaction with New Indian Express, Sanjana spoke about her role in Kadak Singh stating, "Sakshi forms the epicentre of the story. Forced to grow up way before her years, she is trying to hold the family together in the face of a crisis. For someone like me, who comes from a secure household, it was fun to jump into uncharted territory."
Talking about the roles she wants to play on screen, the young actor went on to say, "Variety is something I chase. I have a natural bent towards complex family and relationship dramas, which allow me to experiment with my craft."
