Sanya Malhotra is gearing up for the theatrical release of her upcoming film titled HIT - The First Case. The makers of the film released its trailer last week. While the trailer has piqued the interest of the audiences, Sanya is excited to have her film releasing in theatres after quite some time. Her last film to hit the theatres was Photograph back in 2019, in which she starred alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Even though Sanya's last theatrical release was in 2019, the actress wasn't away from the screens post the COVID-19 pandemic hit the globe. Sanya has had a slew of releases on OTTs including the likes of Pagglait, Shakuntala Devi, Ludo, Meenakshi Sundareshwar and the more recent one being Love Hostel in which she was paired opposite Vikrant Massey.

Soon after the makers of HIT - The First Case dropped its trailer, the actress spoke to a news agency and expressed how elated she is for the film. Sanya told PTI that not only is she excited for the film, but she's also excited to see herself on the "bigger screen". "OTT is nice but there’s a different joy of (watching films in) theatres," she was quoted as saying by the news agency.

HIT - The First case also stars Rajkummar Rao in the lead along with Sanya. Rajkummar Rao will be seen essaying the character of Vikram - a cop who's battling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) against the backdrop of an ongoing investigation in the case of a woman who goes missing. Sanya plays his love-interest in the film.

Directed by Sailesh Kolanu, the film is a suspense thriller and a remake of Kolanu's hit Telugu film of the same name that released in 2020.

The filmmaker has already hinted that he plans to make a second instalment of the film in Hindi too, much like its Telugu version. HIT - The first case is slated to hit the silver screens on July 15, 2022.
