Sasikumar to play army officer in Yaathisai director Dharani Rasendran’s next; to be set during British era

Sasikumar's film will also feature Seyon, Bhavani Sre, and Samuthirakani. Filming is nearly complete, with a release date pending.

Actor and filmmaker Sasikumar, who starred in this year’s blockbuster Tourist Family, will be joining the next project of director Dharani Rasendran who has helmed the critically acclaimed film Yaathisai. While the title of the project has not yet been revealed, a striking poster of Sasikumar in the armed forces uniform was unveiled.

Director and actor Sasikumar’s next acting stint will be helmed by Dharani Rasendran. The director revealed some key points about the upcoming film. He said that the story is set against the backdrop of the British era, and that Sasikumar will play the role of an INA officer.

“We are preparing to film compelling action sequences that will be one of the intriguing attractions of this film. We could not imagine anyone else for this role. Sasikumar sir carries with him a gravitas that elevates a film’s very essence. While we were uncertain if he would accept, particularly after the resounding success of Tourist Family, he surprised us with his immediate affirmation upon hearing the script and his character,” he said.

The shooting for the project has been nearly completed with only 30% left. Apart from Sasikumar, the film also features Seyon, Bhavani Sre, Samuthirakani, Shivadha, and Kishore, among others. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
