Shah Rukh Khan detained at Mumbai airport, charged heavy customs duty upon return from Sharjah

Shah Rukh Khan was detained at the Mumbai airport on the night of November 11, 2022. The actor was coming back from an event in Sharjah. He was charged heavy customs duty before he could leave the airport.

SRK had to pay as much as Rs. 6.83 lakhs in custom duty so that he could head back home from Terminal 3 of Mumbai International Airport, reports NDTV. The actor returned on a private jet.

Shah Rukh Khan was reported to be carrying expensive watches. He and those accompanying him carried the watches through the airport security.

Although SRK was free to go back home, some of those who accompanied him on the trip were left behind. This included some of his bodyguards. They were interrogated all night and were allowed to leave around morning.

The value of the watches are reported to be around Rs. 18 lakhs. The actor had to pay one third of the value as customs duty.

Shah Rukh Khan had come back from attending the Sharjah International Book Fair 2022. He also received the Global Icon of Cinema and Cultural Narrative Award for his contribution to cinema and culture.

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is currently awaiting the release of three films. He has Pathaan, Jawaan and Dunki in the pipeline.

While Pathaan is slated to release on January 26, 2023, the other two films are also scheduled for 2023 release. SRK was last seen in Aanand L Rai’s Zero, which released in 2018.
