Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy likely to start the shoot for Haami 2 in December

Haami 2 will look into the drawbacks of the education system and the academic pressure faced by children.

Following the success of Haami the award-winning Bengali filmmaker duo Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy have decided to roll a sequel to the 2018 film. Haami 2 was to go on floors last year, but the pandemic brought the plans to a standstill. And now, given that the COVID-19 situation is getting better, the film is back on track. The duo is looking to begin the shoot in December this year, following all the necessary precautions. Haami 2 stars Prosenjit Chatterjee and Broto Bannerjee.

Expectations of the audience are high, taking into account the track record of the two as capable filmmakers. The duo has made successful films with a social subtext like Icche, Praktan Bela Sheshe, Muktodhara, Konntho, and Gotro. They also struck a chord with the viewers with their 2018 film Haami that depicted the innocent bond between two little friends and how parents, the school teachers and everyone around, play a big role in conditioning their impressionable minds.

Meanwhile, Haami 2 will address the flaws of the education system and the academic pressure that children often go through. Shiboprosad told ToI that the Haami actors will reprise their roles, along with new additions to the cast. While adding that he cannot let out more details, the Posto director said the story of Haami 2 is full of ‘surprises'.

Haami’s music also did well and became a big hit, with Bhutu Bhaijaan’s popularity making Broto Bandopadhyay popular overnight. And Haami 2 will introduce talented child artists. Anindya Chattopadhyay will compose the music and three songs for the film have already been done.

On the work front, the much-awaited Belashuru by the two is waiting to hit the big screen. The release dates got postponed many times due to the pandemic and cine-goers are now eager to watch the film starring late veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee and Swatilekha Sengupta.
