Shivarajkumar to play a teacher in A for Anand
On May 2, 2025, A for Anand, the newest production venture of Geetha Shivarajkumar’s Geetha Pictures will be launched officially with a muhurtha. This is the third production after Vedha and Bhairathi Ranagal and is being directed by Birbal fame MG Srinivas, who made the action heist thriller Ghost with Century Star Shivarajkumar. This time around, Srini, as the actor-filmmaker is known, tackles a very different subject, though.

Shivarajkumar's Anand is an inspiring and compassionate teacher
Srini, who debuted as a filmmaker with Topiwala has be en entrusted with adapting the Japanese bestseller novel Totto Chan: The Little Girl At the Window, a personal favourite of Geetha Shivarajkumar. The Hattrick Hero plays the title character Anand, an inspiring and compassionate teacher who becomes a mentor and a friend for young and curious students in a village. The film, they’d added, explores themes of trust, respect, and the impact a teacher has on a child’s life. This is only the second time, after Drona , that Shivarajkumar is playing a teacher.
Even though A for Anand is being officially launched this week, Srini says the actual shoot of the film is still a long way off. Speaking to OTTplay, the filmmaker had said, “Shivanna has to complete his ongoing commitment in Kannada, which is his 131st film, as well as his portions for Ram Charan’s Peddi. He’s got at least 30-days of shoot pending for the Telugu film. The banner has also announced a film with Shivanna’s nephew, Dheeren, to be directed by Shakhahaari ’s Sandeep Sunkad, so, the schedules of both films have to be worked out.”
Shivarajkumar, who was last seen in Bhairathi Ranagal, has also been spending time promoting his daughter Niveditha’s debut production venture, Firefly. His next major role is in composer Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, 45, which will be in theatres on August 15. The film also stars Upendra and Raj B Shetty in the lead.
