Sikandar: Salman Khan's film shows getting cancelled due to empty theatres - What does this mean for the Eid release?

Salman Khan's Sikandar has started on a very poor note. The film, which released on a Sunday, earned Rs. 26 crore. Since the film did not cross Rs. 30 crores either, it is not the highest opening film of 2025. Sikandar has not even touched the record set by Chhaava and now, a lot works against the movie. The latest update being that the shows are cancelled.

Sikandar shows being cancelled due to no footfalls?

It all began on the night of day 1. Salman Khan's Sikandar witnessed little to no footfall since the first night of its release. The biggest reason for this is contributed to piracy of the movie, paired with lack of strategic planning. Sikandar released on a Sunday, which was anyway a make-or-break deal for the Salman Khan-starrer. Since the movie was bashed anyway, the footfalls further dropped. The surge in ticket prices also contributed to a lot of theatre-going crowd hesitating on spending their hard-earned money behind Bhaijaan. But mostly, it was the lack of planning. Had the movie released on a Friday like most others, Sikandar might have been spared and been able to earn back at the Box Office, as compared to its current situation.

While Salman Khan was confident that his fans would help Sikandar cross Rs. 200 crore mark, it seems like a far-fetched dream at this point. Eid is also part-holiday, so many are office-goers who cannot take time off to watch the movie in theatres. Most of the crowd would now have to wait a whole week, till Friday, to watch the film, and given the short-term memory, they might just ignore Sikandar and look for a newer release instead.

If you are among those who are forced to wait till next Friday to watch Sikandar in theatres, you can choose to watch his previous Eid release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan on OTT instead. All it takes is an OTTplay Premium subscription!
