One senses that Rishab Shetty is particularly ecstatic about his upcoming film Kantara and the visuals revealed in the teaser-trailer suggest why. The film is a period setting with Shetty himself playing the male lead and Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, and others supporting him in the cause. Kantara releases in theatres on September 30.

And the first single of the film will grace the digital audience on the upcoming Independence Day. Titled Singara Siriye, the song will highlight the tender love story between Shiva and Leela, the central characters played by Rishab Shetty and Sapthami Gowda respectively. The song will feature the vocals of Vijay Prakash, Ananya Bhat, and Nagaraj Panar Valtur and the lyrics of Pramod Maravanthe: Ajaneesh B. Loknath has scored the music of Kantara.

Sapthami Gowda’s first look reveal too generated an encouraging response on the internet with many expressing an interest to see how her character of Leela plays out in the film. The Popcorn Monkey Tiger actress plays a police constable in the film.

As far as the film is concerned, Kantara is centered on the man vs nature conflict set in a mystical forest. In a previous interview, Rishab Shetty revealed that developed the idea during the second lockdown and was particularly drawn to the ‘fantasy’ or ‘legend’ elements of the story, which he is yet to explore as a director. A vast majority of the film has been shot in and around Rishab’s hometown of Keradi, including towns like Kundapura, and the actor had to undergo stark physical transformation to fit into the role of a buffalo jockey for the Kambala sequences.

Another highlight of Kantara is that it brings together Rishab Shetty and the makers of K.G.F Hombale Films. The association was forged following the success of Shetty’s 2018 film Sa.Hi.Pra.Shaale, Kasaragodu with Hombale keen on working with him on interesting content: Kantara is part of the upcoming exciting fleet of projects that Vijay Kiragandur and Co. are developing over the next three to four years.
