‘Dunki’ OTT rights sold for a record deal according to reports

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film Jawan recently unveiled its first look teaser, drawing praise from fans and filmmakers alike. The Atlee directorial is scheduled to release on 7th September this year and fans of the superstar just can’t wait for this one to drop. We have now learnt that another highly-anticipated SRK release, Dunki has sold its OTT rights for a record fee. The Rajkumar Hirani film, which is set to hit theatres on December 22 later this year, has reportedly sold its exclusive streaming rights to Jio Cinema for a whopping ₹155 crores. And it’s hardly surprising that this is the biggest Bollywood digital deal ever made.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’ announces release date

The highly-anticipated sequel to the 2012 comedy OMG: Oh My God!, titled OMG 2, has announced its release date. Directed by Amit Rai, the film stars Akshay Kumar in the lead, reprising his role as God, with Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi playing prominent roles. The film’s first look teaser will be revealed later this week according to reports, while the film is scheduled to release in theatres on August 11.

Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri film announces release date

Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri are set to play the lead in the upcoming Anand Tiwari directorial, produced by Karan Johar. Details regarding the plot of the untitled film have been kept under wraps, but the film’s release date has been revealed as 23rd February 2024. The film also stars Neha Dhupia in a prominent role.

‘Oppenheimer’ becomes the first non-franchise film to receive 3 am screenings

The hype surrounding the upcoming Christopher Nolan film, Oppenheimer has reached a fever pitch, with advanced ticket sales already opened across the country two weeks prior to its release. It has been reported that the biopic starring Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, and Matt Damon among others will have 3 am screenings in select theatres across the country. This will mark the first time a non-franchise Hollywood film will have early morning screenings in India. The film will release on July 21, on the same day as Greta Gerwig’s Barbie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

‘Shang-Chi’ sequel is being pushed back according to Simu Liu

Shang-Chi lead star Simu Liu has given an update on the 2021 film’s sequel, which will disappoint Marvel fans. The actor confirmed that the sequel is currently slated to release after the next set of Avengers films, which includes the 2026 film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and its 2027 follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars. This would imply that the sequel can only be expected in 2027 or even later. The actor revealed the information during a fan interaction on the new social media platform Threads.

Hayao Miyazaki’s Ghibli film ‘How Do You Live?’ to get IMAX release

The highly-anticipated Hayao Miyazaki film by Studio Ghibli anime feature How Do You Live? Is set to premiere in Japan this Friday. The film is set to release in IMAX, making it the first Studio Ghibli release to have a simultaneous IMAX release. Apart from IMAX, the film will also be released in Dolby Atmos, Dolby Cinema, and DTS:X. Details regarding the plot have not been revealed by the filmmakers as they believe fans should be able to best enjoy the film without any preconceived notions.
