Son of Sardaar 2 the highly anticipated sequel to the 2012 action-comedy Son of Sardaar, will now hit theatres globally on August 1, 2025. Jio Studios and Devgn Films, the film's producers, have announced a new release date and launched a fresh promotional push that features the film's ensemble cast and upbeat score.

Strategic delay following Saiyaara's success

The film's original release date of July 25 has been pushed back by one week. As per reports, after this week's release, Saiyaara an unexpected blockbuster performance, the decision is being viewed as a smart move that will provide the film a relatively clearer window at the box office. The film will also not compete head-on with other youth-orientated releases that are coming out in August thanks to its new release date.

Once again, we can look forward to hilarious antics, heartfelt scenes, and Ajay Devgn's return as the adored Jassi. This time around, he has a number of friends joining him, including Ravi Kishan, Mrunal Thakur, Sanjay Mishra, Kubbra Sait, Neeru Bajwa, Deepak Dobriyal, and Vindu Dara Singh. Roshni Walia makes her big-screen debut in the film, and the fact that it is one of actor Mukul Dev's last movie appearances adds an emotional element to the release.

Punjabi flavoured sequel

A continuation of Jassi Paaji's story, Son of Sardaar 2 is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and features a mashup of Punjabi culture, comedy, and family drama. The teaser and trailer for the film have gone viral, with fans raving about the thrilling action and throwback references.

The film's promotional efforts have already begun. Ajay Devgn and his co-stars indulged in playful banter and shared behind-the-scenes secrets during their recent visit on The Great Indian Kapil Show.

Chartbuster soundtrack lead the buzz

The film's soundtrack is slowly making its way. All three songs—Nachdi the title track, and the love ballad Pehla Tu Duja Tu—are now topping the charts. A reworked rendition of The Po Po Song has also been released, with the hope of recreating the original's popularity.

Since the original film was so well-received in North India, the producers are hoping for a repeat performance there. When it opens in theatres this August, the film promises to be a hilarious, emotionally engaging, and energetic film that everybody can enjoy.
