Soorarai Pottru in Hindi: Radhika Madan to step into the shoes of Aparna Balamurali in the remake?

Following Suriya's success with Soorarai Pottru (2020), it's now Akshay Kumar's turn to bring the story to life for the Hindi audience, under the direction of Sudha Kongara, who also directed the original. As per the latest reports in Mid Day, Radhika Madan has reportedly joined the cast of the remake, reprising the part played by Aparna Balamurali in the original. The actor will almost certainly portray a woman from rural Maharashtra.

Speaking about the same, a source told the tabloid that the film is in pre-production with the filmmaker setting the adaptation in western India. Before the film goes into production, Madan has to master a specific dialect.

Soorarai Pottru the Tamil drama, is partially based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan, who made air travel accessible to the general public. The remake's official rights have been purchased by Abundantia Entertainment.

While the performers have yet to sign the contract, the producers plan to start workshops this month, paving the way for a summer shoot.

Suriya had previously stated in a statement that the outpouring of love and admiration for the Hindi version of Soorarai Pottru was exceptional. He realised it had to be a pan-India film as soon as he heard the story since that was at the heart of it. As a result, he was ecstatic to work with Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia Entertainment to tell Captain Gopinath's inspiring story in Hindi.

Akshay has been in talks for this film for the past six months, according to a source, and despite giving his verbal okay last year, he has only lately signed on the dotted line.

According to the source, the Hindi screenplay is exactly as good as the original, and Akshay applauded the way it was adapted for a North Indian audience without losing its emotional and uplifting core. The creators hope that by releasing the Hindi version, they will be able to reach a wider audience and inspire young entrepreneurs, especially those from distant towns and villages with limited resources, to pursue their dreams and ambitions.
