Soundarya Rajinikanth, who is currently anticipating the release of her film With Love in theatres this week, opened about her views on Coolie, the latest film starring her father and superstar Rajinikanth. Wanting to be careful in choice of her words, Soundarya explained what worked and didn’t in Coolie.

What did Soundarya Rajinikanth say about Coolie?

Director and producer Soundarya Rajinikanth expressed her views on her father’s latest film Coolie. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial which had much expectations, had disappointed fans massively. Speaking to Galatta Plus, Soundarya was asked about her opinion on Coolie.

Wanting to be careful on what she says, Soundarya responded, “I am appa's fan and as appa's fan I go to watch his films in all his glory. The last 10 minutes worked for me and I loved the de-aging part, the style and mannerisms, but as a Thalaivar fan I wanted more of him in that film. Did I like it, yes, but did I think it was one of my top appa's favourites, maybe not.”

Coolie, an action thriller, had monetarily done well at the box office and even went on to become one of the highest grossing Tamil films in 2025. However, it was also subjected to trolling and meme-fest after the Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj film had failed to earn good reviews and reception among audience.

What is Rajinikanth’s next film?

Up next, the Tamil superstar will have the release of Jailer 2. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar with a star-studded cast part of the project, Jailer 2 is a sequel to the 2023 film. A release date is yet to be announced by the makers.

Rajinikanth will also be seen in tentatively named project Thalaivar 173, which is set to be produced by Kamal Haasan. Written and directed by Cibi Chakaravarthy who earlier made Don, Thalaivar 173 is set for Pongal 2027 release. More updates are on the way.
