Sriram Raghavan speaks about Badlapur 2 script; will AI be involved?

During the Q-and-A round at the Red Lorry Film Festival, Sriram Raghavan spoke about the rise of AI and whether it is a boon or bane for the filmmakers. That is where he teased Badlapur 2 script by stating, “Just today, my co-writer told me, ‘ChatGPT is giving me a couple of good options for Badlapur 2’! So, I guess some things will be useful and some things won’t be useful.” Whether the filmmaker will actually end up using AI for Badlapur 2 (if the film does actually take off), remains to be seen.

Sriram Raghavan also spoke about the trend of filmmakers going to AI to ask if a movie would work at the Box Office. Further, he also shared how people ask whether a movie would work or not by feeding the script of the film to AI. “I don’t know how they come to a conclusion. I guess there are a lot of people who have to justify their job!,” he stated.

Further speaking about Ikkis, touted to be Dharmendra’s last movie, not working at the Box Office as expected, Sriram Raghavan recalled how even Raj Kapoor’s Mera Naam Joker tanked at the Box Office on the second day. Thus, he remains unbothered by the numbers which change with every passing day.

Also recalling Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s Merry Christmas, the filmmaker shared how he first told producer Ramesh Taurani that he is making the movie as a 90-minute no interval film. Eventually, of course, Merry Christmas was over two-hour film, leaving everyone happy.
