Steven Spielberg and SS Rajamouli talk about RRR

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli was overjoyed to hear words of praise from Hollywood great Steven Spielberg about his latest blockbuster RRR. Spielberg noted that he was impressed by the "visual style" of RRR when he saw the movie last week while describing the movie as "eye candy."

"I thought your movie was outstanding. I hadn't seen it when we met but I saw it last week. It was amazing. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was eye candy," Spielberg said leaving Rajamouli in a state of sheer excitement.

Spielberg and Rajamouli met on the sidelines of the Golden Globe Awards, where RRR's "Naatu Naatu" won the Best Orginal Song. Rajamouli tweeted the picture of him meeting Spielberg and captioned it, "I just met GOD."

It was clear from the picture that Rajamouli was starstruck by Spielberg. However, it seems after watching RRR, Spielberg has also become a fan of Rajamouli.

Spielberg gave a rave review of RRR and even highlighted the elements that he enjoyed in the film. "I thought the performances of Ram, Alia and all of the cast...Alison Doody, who was in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. In your movie, I was happy to see how you ended her (Alison Doody's) story. She was so heinous so was her husband. It was a beautiful visual style and I just thought it was extraordinary to look at and experience," Spielberg added while congratulating Rajamouli on the film's global success.

An overjoyed Rajamouli suggested that he was ready to do "Naatu Naatu" after hearing Spielberg review his movie. "I can almost get up from the chair and do a dance – it means a lot to me," he said.

Rajammouli and Spielberg connected via video link to talk about Spielberg's The Fabelmans, which has been nominated in seven categories at the Oscars. In the 30-minute conversation, Rajamouli seemingly turned into a student as he tried to understand Spielberg's thought process that goes into making movies.

"When we see each other again, I have a lot of questions about how you made the movie," Spielberg said.

"The moment I land there, I will somehow beg, borrow, steal your time and take the opportunity to do that," an enthusiastic Rajamouli responded.

Rajamouli will also travel to Los Angeles next month as Naatu Naatu has been nominated for Best Orginal Song at the Oscars.
