Sumathi Valavu, the most recent horror comedy in Malayalam, became live on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium on September 26. Sumathi Valavu had a 50-day theatrical run

Industry tracker Sacnilk, which has also deemed it a "hit" in box office, reports that it made a total of Rs 24.85 crore worldwide over its strong six-week theatrical run. Even though the plot was formulaic, theatregoers gave Sumathi Valavu a good rating for its wry moments.

The movie was partially inspired by the true story of Sumathi Valavu, which is based on an urban myth that is widespread in Trivandrum and is based on people's real experiences with an unsettling presence in a road's curve. Abhilash Pillai developed the story for this project, which was helmed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar. Balu Varghese, Gokul Suresh, Saiju Kurup, Malavika Manoj, Siddharth Bharathan, Bobby Kurian, Bhama, Nandu, and actor Mukesh's son, Shravan, play supporting roles in Sumathi Valavu.
