It looks like Tamanaah is likely to play one of the leading ladies in Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film Jailer, which will be helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Though there is no confirmation on the same, the buzz about Tamanaah being part of the film is only getting stronger by the day. Ramya Krishnan had recently confirmed that she was part of the film.

The actress had earlier teamed up with Rajinikanth for Padayappa (1999), in which she played the memorable character, Neelambari. Her character Neelambari also made a cameo in Rajinikanth's Baba. The actress had stated in an interview that she was excited to team up with Rajinikanth again and that she would soon begin shooting for her portions.

Jailer is Rajinikanth's 169th film. The poster that was released to announced the title of the film featured a blood-soaked meat cleaver hanged to a chain, that too, what looked like an abandoned factory. Going by the poster, it looks like there will be high-octane action sequences in the film. When Superstar recently returned to Chennai and the media asked about the update about the film, all he said was, "shooting". The first schedule has already begun in Chennai and a grand set has been erected for the same. Rajinikanth is expected to join the sets soon. The team is then likely to move to Hyderabad for their next schedule.

The team boasts an ensemble cast which includes Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar, Vasanth Ravi, Redin Kingsley and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, though the presence of latter is yet to be confirmed. Music for the film will be Anirudh Ravichander. Cinematography will be handled by Vijay Karthik Kannan of Doctor fame. The film is said to be a mass commercial potboiler. Jailer will be bankrolled by Sun Pictures, who had also produced his previous outing Annaatthe. On the other hand, Nelson's last project was Beast which had Vijay playing the lead.
