Despite a trail of negative comments on casting Rashmika Mandanna for Thamma in the beginning, the fifth installment in Maddock Horror Comedy Universe opened with a bang on this Diwali with a collection of Rs 24 crore on first day, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. However, the movie saw a significant drop over the three days later, yet running strong at the box office. Thamma's new goal is to cross Varun Dhawan's Bhediya lifetime India collection. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the movie collected Rs 9.55 crore on its fourth day, which makes it overall Rs 65.15 crore within four days of its release, according to Sacnilk. For the unversed, Bhediya made Rs 69 crore from India and Rs 94.91 crore worldwide. Hence, critics are expecting Thamma to cross the Varun Dhawan-starrer over its first weekend.
Thamma had an overall 13.63% Hindi occupancy on Friday. While the occupancy for morning shows was at 7.35%, the afternoon shows saw a significant jump to 15.40%, and the night shows saw a decent progress with 18.13% occupancy on the movie's fourth day.
Yesterday, the lead actor had an emotional gathering with his whole family including his wife and children, his brother Aparshakti Khurana and his wife and their children, and their own mother. Ayushmann posted several videos on his Instagram and wrote that his family saw some significant changes in last few years. Hence, the success of Thamma turns out to be a ray of hope in their lives.
Khuranna beautifully mentioned that when actor Paresh Rawal said "Ayushman Bhava" to him in the movie, he felt like his late father blessed him. For the unversed, Ayushmann and Aparshakti's father Pandit P Khurana passed away in May 2023, after battling with prolonged illness.

Through Tadaka, Alok enters into the world of Betaals, who are vampiric beings, vowed centuries ago to stop drinking human blood after witnessing the Partition of India. Alok becomes infatuated with Tadaka, but their love is forbidden by the tribe's rules against mixing with humans.
When Alok bring Tadaka to Delhi his hometown, a tragic accident transforms him into a Betaal. This act inadvertently triggers Yakshasan's release, escalating the conflict and sparking a war between the betaals and humans.
