What to expect from Thamma movie

Fans can expect a century old love story with a thrilling mix of supernatural elements in Thamma where one of the lovers turned into a bloody sucking vampire. Unlike previous Maddock movies, Thamma is being promoted as a romantic genre with supernatural elements, rather than a pure horror-comedy.

Thamma draws inspiration from both traditional Indian folklore like Betaal-Tadaka and the Western vampire mythology. Ayushmann plays historian Alok Goyal who suddenly discovers the mythological origins of vampirism in India and transforms into a powerful Betaal. Meanwhile, Rashmika plays a powerful vampire named Tadaka has a complicated relationship with human Alok.

On the other hand, Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays Yakshasan, a thousand-year-old vampire who serves as Thamma's main antagonist, and Paresh Rawal plays Alok Goyal's father Ram Bajaj Goyal.

Thamma trailer breakdown

The 2-minute-54-second video kicks off with an explanation of Yakshasan who was created to protect humanity on Earth but rebelled to form an army of his own kind. However, things take a turn in his life and he's been locked for centuries now.

The trailer takes a comical turn while showing Alok's coping up with his new transformation as Betaal and its limitations, sarcastically questioning how he will live without being able to enjoy rajma chawal again.

The video builds a thrilling face off between Alok and Yakshasan which also hints at a crossover with other movies of Maddock Universe. A major werewolf is also teased in the trailer, building on the lore established in Bhediya.
