Darshan will play the slain freedom fighter in a film directed by Tharun Sudhir

It’s been a while since Tharun Sudhir directed a film, his last was the superhit Kaatera with Challenging Star Darshan. Tharun was one of the filmmakers that Darshan had announced future collaborations with, but then his legal troubles began, which had severely hampered the production of his last, The Devil too. Amid uncertainty about the actor’s availability for future projects, given that he is currently in trial in a murder case, there is no saying when Tharun can work with him again.

Making Sindhura Lakshmana is Darshan's call, says Tharun Sudhir, but why?

Even then, when does he think he will be able to make the film, Sindhura Lakshmana? “I don’t know an exact timeline, but it is a script meant for Darshan sir. It will go on floors whenever he is ready for it. If I am to direct it, I will give it my 100%, but if Darshan sir wants to do it with someone else, I will give them the script. As far as I am concerned, the film has to get made; I just think it is best suited for Darshan sir. It is his call what he wants to do with the script,” Tharun told Boss TV, on the sidelines of his new production venture, the Kannada series Raakshasa .

If not Darshan, is there another actor that Tharun thinks could replace him? “I wouldn’t do it,” he says and adds that Sindhura Lakshmana is a historical subject that anyone can do. His script is only for Darshan, he reckons, adding that he will not direct it with another actor in the lead. Tharun reasons that it was Darshan who gave him the idea to make a film on the freedom fighter and that is how he began writing a script. That is his primary reason for only wanting to do it with the Challenging Star.

Meanwhile, the trial in the Renukaswamy murder case, in which Darshan is accuse no.2 is currently ongoing. There is a buzz on social media that the actor maybe granted bail again in a couple of months, but at the moment, the actor’s lawyers are pushing for a speedy conclusion of trial proceedings.
