Ryan Reynolds starrer science-fiction film, The Adam Project released on Netflix this Friday and it has already been receiving tremendous response from fans and critics. One of the fans of the movie seems to be Bollywood director and producer, Karan Johar.

The streaming giant recently released a video of the filmmaker interacting with the director of The Adam Project, Shawn Levy about the significance of telling heartfelt stories. Expressing his love for the film, Karan Johar said that he was excited to be one of the first people in India to be able to watch the film and considers it a privilege. He loved the film and said that he got emotional in the last scene between the father and the son in the movie. The biggest takeaway for him, he says, has been the emotions. "I think that's the essence of spectacle movies, but also you walk out with an inherent emotion. My father meant the world to me, he is no more now but I remember that everything I've ever watched in cinema that's moved me has always been father-related. That's what The Adam Project is also about. It's about family. It's about the father and son and I was absolutely swept away by the emotional energy of the film,” he said.

He further said that a lot of compliments will come Levy's way for months, including a lot of heartfelt stories about people's experiences. "It is an immensely connected experience and a very immersive and satisfying cinema experience more than anything else and I wish you so much love and luck because I know that everyone in India is going to absolutely love the film,” he said.

Levy responded, saying he does not make movies just to entertain himself or to convey ideas and concepts. He believes in creating an inherently emotional connection. He adds that is why he enjoys filmmaking. "I'm well aware that the cinema of India is unabashedly devoted to audience delight, audience joy, audience warmth and those are the kinds of movies I love from any culture. I feel like increasingly so many movies are either dark or somber or alienating or they're a pure spectacle, but not emotional. I'd really love to believe that cinema can be both. I wanted to make an emotional spectacle with The Adam Project," he says. He adds that even Ryan Reynolds shared the same feeling when the two met on Free Guy. "We're both at a stage of our careers and our lives where we want to actually tell stories that connect in a joyous manner and in a sunshine manner,” he adds.

The filmmaker further speaks about his association with Netflix. He says he makes films for a mass, which requires audience engagement. "So, Netflix has such a ubiquitous global scale of audience engagement, that it makes it the perfect platform for a movie like this,” he said.

The film, The Adam Project is currently streaming on Netflix. Written by Jonathan Tropper, T.S. Nowlin, Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin, it also stars Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Walker Scobell, with Catherine Keener and Zoe Saldaña.
