The Copenhagen Test is a series that blends psychological thrills with sci-fi elements, starring Simu Liu, who rose to fame as Marvel's Shang-Chi. The Peacock original eight-episodic series is now streaming in India on JioHotstar (also accessible via OTTplay Premium) all at once. What's the plot of The Copenhagen Test?

Simu Liu portrays Alexander Hale, the first generation Chinese-American intelligence analyst who works for a secret watchdog organisation called The Orphanage. The company reveals a shocking truth to Alexander that his brain has been hacked through nanites (nanobots) by someone unknown, allowing that person to see, hear, observe and record everything he experiences in real-time, effectively turning him into a human radio station!

However, instead of removing the hack immediately, The Orphanage decides to use Alexander as a bait and they promote him to field work and build a fabricated reality around him to flush out the hackers, all while Hale must pretend as if he doesn't know that he's being watched.

Simu Liu's experience working on spy thriller genre

A few days back this month, Simu Liu had a chat with The Hollywood Reporter. There he revealed that his favourite spy thrillers are Bourne and Bond as he loved the grittiness and realism of them. He feels he's an absolute sucker for the genre and it's very rare for someone like him to work on this genre.

When he was asked that how's career going after Marvel's Shang-Chi, Simu Liu stated that it’s a marathon and success is defined by longevity more than just the bigness of a single moment. He has watched a lot of actors’ careers over the past few years that have shone in various genres. But he still very much feels like he have an uphill battle every single day. He feels like he doesn't know the stuff coming to him are actually good for him or not.
