After the critical success of Kalkokkho, director duo Rajdeep Paul and Sarmistha Maiti are all set with their upcoming film, Mon Potongo (Mindflies). The film features National Award-winning actor Seema Biswas, Joy Sengupta, Subhankar Mohanta, Baishakhi Roy, Amit Saha, Tannistha Biswas, Janardan Ghosh, Tribikram Ghosh, Anindita Ghosh, Anindo Roy, and others and is almost ready for its festival journey. Besides the seasoned actors and actresses, the film also has a real-life cast, including pavement dwellers and street children.

While speaking about the film, Sarmistha said, “First, Mon Potongo is different from Kalkokkho (House of Time). Kalkokkho is more morbid as a film while Mindflies deals with life, colorful aspects that celebrate life above all. Mon Potongo is an ode to the flight of desire – amoral, relentless, and unrestrained. It’s a tale of soaring desire that you are not even supposed to dream of within the brackets of your social identity but you still dare to pursue. The film is a celebration of that desire – maddening, destroying, and yet liberating. It is about flying, dying, and returning from the ashes like a Phoenix.”

The film narrates the story of a madly-in-love inter-faith couple running away from their village fearing persecution. They find shelter on the open pavements of the city streets. As they get accustomed to the harsh life on the streets their minds are enchanted by a throne inside an exquisite furniture showroom which they want to gift to and share as a token of their love. They want to climb up the social ladder so that they can attain their desired “seat of power”. Their obsession to attain that seat leads them through the tempting bylanes of wealth and meets a range of colourful characters.
