The Mandalorian.

Story:

Din Djarin is now the apostate. He cannot face his clan without feeling the guilt. Thus, he leads on a journey with Grogu to right his wrongs.

Review:

The Mandalorian takes no time to get into the epic VFX. The music helps build the scene and you are left intrigued to find out what exactly has happened.

The story begins with showing how The Mandalorian’s mask is made and soon after, you re-enter the world of Star Wars. This time though, there’s more Game of Thrones vibe with the flags, music and armies.

There is a glimpse from what The Mandalorians face today. Of course, things weren’t easy for him but the level attained on the show is a little forced. There’s a giant crocodile from the waters which is somewhat unbelievable, especially because the story hasn’t set yet either. Basically, after Game of Thrones, you feel like you’re in Jurassic Park. Nonetheless, the emotion behind the scene – of protecting the younger generation or who they call The Children of the Watch – works well.

The introduction to The Mandalorian Din Djarin (played by Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda aka Grogu’s journey is slightly bizarre but not to the extent that you want to completely diss the episode. Of course, Grogu continues to win your heart with his adorable gestures as he explores new worlds. Meanwhile, Din only means business.

C3PO’s twin is here and he is geeky but still cute. This time, he is into sales.

Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), who rules over the unpopular Nevarro, is prude as always. How he treats Grogu and the wrath of the little one go hand-in-hand but are still pretty subtle.

Pirate Vane, son of Pirate King Gorian Shard, is ruthless, which is given because of his profession. How Karga and ‘The Apostate’ Din handle him makes one worthy watch.

Grogu’s friend IG-11 is back. Shocked? So were we but when it comes to The Mandalorian, nothing is impossible. The scene is one to look out for too.

The Anzellans are some adorable species with brains. Grogu’s interaction with them will make you laugh out loud.

Din continues to give Grogu life lessons and all of them are the best advice. He has absolutely fit into the character of a father when it comes to Grogu.

You enter the world of Kalevala and it instantly reminds you of everything Andor. Everything is in a closed and confined space and thus, immediately, your mind wanders to when things went wrong for Andor.

Bo-Katan (Kate Sackhoff), from The Dark Side, is introduced with it. She is sure to give you the Cersei vibes from GoT. She is practical and yet, has a soft side to her when it comes to her own. Din’s interaction with her leaves you uncomfortable and yet hopeful for something interesting coming your way.

Verdict:

Rick Famuyiwa-directed episode one of The Mandalorian season 3 is almost there. You are sure to love many aspects of this 35-minute long episode but some just don’t sit in. Nonetheless, this is not an episode that you want to shun off.
