What's the story of The Offering

The movie begins with the introduction of Arthur, the son of a Hasidic funeral director, who returns home with his pregnant wife Claire to reconcile with his estranged father Saul. However, Arthur sudden visit has a hidden motive of forcing Saul to sell their family property so he can get rid of his own debt.

Things take a dark turn when a an elderly recluse's dead body is delivered to their family morgue that contains the ancient spirit of Abyzou which is unknown to all of them. When Arthur accidentally breaks an amulet that was keeping the spirit inside the body, the evil entity gets unleashed.

Abyzou begins to torment the family by causing horrific supernatural events. The evil spirit's sinister goal is to possess Claire's unborn child. As the terror escalates and begins to kill, Arthur is forced to confront his past and work with the family to perform a dangerous ritual to stop the demon, even if it means sacrificing himself.
