Munawar Faruqui-hosted The Society has been making the buzz for a while now, and the reality show is closer to release than you would have expected. The first promo of the show suggested that it would be a mix of Bigg Boss, Lock Upp, and have Squid Game references. This has left everyone curious to know when and where they can stream the reality show hosted by Munawar. So, let us take you through it...

The Society OTT release date and platform

Munawar Faruqui's The Society is going to stream on OTT sooner than you would expect. The show will be out next Monday, i.e. on July 21, 2025. It will be out on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium.

The Society concept

From the promo that had dropped, The Society is revealed to be a reality show that would test the contestants on various levels. They are under house arrest, and it is a bunk bed setup, along with a vault being part of the game. The theme of the show very much resembles the theme of the Korean drama Squid Game.

Right from Munawar teasing masks a la VIPs to there being a clear divide between the contestants causing a rift between them, The Society is what the fine line between Bigg Boss and Squid Game is. For the uninitiated, Munawar's Bigg Boss season, aka Bigg Boss 17, had the contestants divided into three teams - Dil, Dimaag, and Dum. Similarly, The Society is divided between The Royals, The Regulars, and The Rags. Here, The Royals enjoy immense benefits, The Regulars are expected to play by the rules, and The Rags get punished for their existence itself.

The reality show has also reminded many of Kangana Ranaut-hosted Lock Upp because the contestants are locked up, and a few (the Rags) are treated as prisoners. There's bound to be rebellion, drama and a lot more with that kind of a concept, which is what The Society promises.

More about The Society

The Society will host 25 players who are locked up for 200 hours. They have to fight for their survival, and like other reality shows, only one winner is expected out of the reality show. However, the makers have not clarified that concept so far, so we might see more than a winner or a completely different concept altogether. Stay tuned to know more.
