The trailer of Hondisi Bareyiri maker Ramenahalli Jagannathan’s next, Theertharoopa Thandeyavarige, was released earlier on December 6, and the first impression that one gets is that it is Rathnan Prapancha meets #ParuParvathy. Jagannathan presents his protagonist, Telugu TV actor Nihar Mukesh, who makes his Kannada film debut with Theertharoopa Thandeyavarige, as a popular travel vlogger, Pruthvi Sanchari, with a decent fan following including the heroine, played by Rachana Inder, and her grandmother.

As exciting as exploring the world is to Pruthvi, he is plagued by existential questions about his lineage, in particular about his father. Questions that his mother, played by Sithara, does not seem to have answers to. So, they set off on a journey to seek answers; a search for his identity. Jagannathan has set a theatrical release date for his film, making it the first Kannada movie of 2026. Theertharoopa Thandeyavarige will be in theatres on January 1, 2026.

The film also stars Rajesh Nataranga, Ravindra Vijay, Ajith Hande, Ashwitha Hegde, among others, with music by Joe Costa and cinematography by Deepaka Yaregara. The film had initially been announced as a Kannada-Telugu bilingual. It’s release date, though, is surprising, considering that it is only a week after not one, but two star-led films – Kiccha Sudeep’s Mark and the multi-starrer 45 – hit theatres. There are releases across languages in the Christmas week, with most likely to hold on to their screens/shows into the second week.
