Director Ramenahalli Jagannatha, who made the slice-of-life drama Hondisi Bareyiri, picked another relatable subject on human relationships for his sophomore film, Theertharoopa Thandeyavarige. This time the focus was one family – a mother and son and the rift between them, owing to the absence of the father in that equation. The film, starring Ravindra Vijay, Rajesh Nataranga, Sithara, Nihar Mukesh and Rachana Inder, among others, received largely positive reviews, and is now set to drop on OTT.

Theertharoopa Thandeyavarige is headed to Amazon Prime Video, the platform on which Hondisi Bareyiri performed phenomenally well. The buzz is that the film will drop as early as February 20, 2026, but there’s been no official confirmation. OTTplay checked in with the filmmaker, who confirmed the platform, but was non-committal about the date, as the film was still in quality control (QC). A definitive release date will be available later in the week.

Theertharoopa Thandeyavarige, meanwhile, had a tough time getting audiences to make that trip to theatres initially. Ramenahalli Jagannatha took to social media multiple times to explain to people that smaller films like his need audiences in the first weekend itself to be able to sustain the allotted screens. His persistent appeals paid off to some extent, but not much. The film is likely to find a more dedicated audience once it drops on OTT.

The film follows travel vlogger Pruthvi Sanchari (Nihar), who blames his mother Janaki (Sithara) for his father abandoning them. He’s also not too happy about her friendship with Vishwanath (Rajesh Nataranga), which remained platonic all along, but is misconstrued by everyone around, including Pruthvi. What happens when the youngster eventually realizes the circumstances leading to his father’s disappearance, which then lead to a search for the man, is what the film is about.

Ramenahalli Jagannatha has moved on to his next, for which he is collaborating with Golden Star Ganesh. Called Tamma Sukhagamana Bayasuva, the film was officially launched on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. This will also be an emotion-driven family drama, promises the filmmaker.
