Audiences who have been waiting with bated breath for a chance to step into the ‘World of Phantom/Vikrant Rona’, including the delay in the release date announcement, can now heave a sigh of relief; there’s a date in sight for their scheduled departure to this fantasy world created by director Anup Bhandari and actor Kiccha Sudeep.

According to the makers, Kichcha Sudeep as Vikrant Rona will report for duty in theatres on February 24, 2022. The much-awaited fantasy action-adventure flick, details of which the team has been guarding with their lives, was among the first films to be shot when lockdown relaxations came in. Given that much of the film was shot in sets that were specially erected in Hyderabad to create the world of this fantasy story, the team managed to create bio-bubbles for everyone involved.

Vikrant Rona has been written and directed by Anup and stars Sudeep, Neetha Ashok, Nirup Bhandari. The makers had also roped in Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez for what was initially only meant to be a special song, but later clarified that she has pivotal role as well. The film has been produced by Jack Manjunath and Shalini Manjunath, under their banner Shalini Artss, and co-produced by Alankar Pandian of Invenio Origin. The film has music by B Ajaneesh Loknath and William David as the cinematographer. According to the team, the film has been rendered in 3-D and is expected to be a grand visual spectacle.

Vikrant Rona, which was initially called Phantom, is considered one of the biggest films for its leading man Sudeep, in terms of the scale and release plans, given that it has, apparently, been mounted on a massive budget and is being brought to theatres as a pan-Indian movie with 14 versions including Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi, among others. Sudeep is expected to voice his character in at least four of these five languages. That the teaser and new title reveal of the film was done at Dubai’s Burj Khalifa is testimony to the fact that the makers are going all to promote and release this film to maximum effect.
