After his tryst with more serious roles in movies such as Padavettu and Thuramukham, Nivin Pauly is all set to return to his forte – commercial entertainers with his next few movies.

In a recent interview with OTTplay, the actor confirmed that he has decided to tweak his strategy of signing films at least for the upcoming movies. “I want to do more commercial entertainers for the time being,” said the actor.

Nivin is currently set to wrap up his portions in the yet-to-be-titled Haneef Adeni directorial, which is being shot in Dubai. He will then join the team of Jana Gana Mana director Dijo Jose Antony’s next, which will also have a short schedule in the United Arab Emirates before resuming shoot in Kerala. Both movies are co-produced by Listin Stephen, who had also taken up the distribution of his latest movie Thuramukham. “They are both entertainers. It’s too soon to talk about either of the films,” said Nivin.

Incidentally, before he had joined the sets of Haneef’s film, the actor was set to produce and star in Vinay Govind’s Thaaram, which also has Kayadu Lohar, Vinay Forrt and Nikhila Vimal. Nivin told us, “We had only done a pooja function of sorts for the film in Manali.” It’s unclear when the actor will resume the shoot of the movie, which is scripted by Vivek Ranjit.

Meanwhile, Nivin’s latest film Thuramukham finally hit theatres after a three-year-long wait. The actor plays the grey-shaded character in the period movie, which also has Indrajith Sukumaran, Arjun Ashokan, Poornima Indrajith, Darshana Rajendran and Joju George as part of the cast.

“My character Moidu is someone who treaded the wrong path. He doesn’t have anyone to please. He just wants to ensure that he brings money home. So, his life has slipped considerably from the morally right path,” said the actor, who was praised for his performance in the movie, which is set to stream on Sony LIV after its theatrical run.
