Malayalam actor Asif Ali would be looking to start his 2026 at the Kerala box office with his upcoming film Tiki Taka, helmed by VS Rohith. Fans were eagerly waiting for an update as it was Asif Ali’s birthday on February 4, 2026. But in a neat twist, the makers dropped the character poster closer to midnight on Wednesday, along with a video with the actor himself giving an update on the filming on his most 'tiring birthday'. What is Asif Ali’s character in Tiki Taka

The Tiki Taka team dropped the poster of Asif Ali’s character John Denver, and with the caption ‘Heat, heat waves, I’m swimmin’ in a mirror’, which are the lyrics of the Heat Waves song by Glass Animals, a British Indie rock band.

In the video, Asif Ali thanked everyone for all the wishes that came his way. He went on to say that he knows everyone is waiting for the teaser. Suddenly, he sheds his suave manner and switches to Malayalam, asking if he is ‘crazy’ to drop teasers every other year. But giving an update on the Tiki Taka shoot, the actor said, “As we are filming the last lap of the film, this has been the most tiring birthday ever. So, you guys wait for Tiki Taka… wait for John Denver”

The glimpse has already caught the attention of netizens, who seem to be impressed with the music of Ravi Basur, known for action thrillers - Yash’s Kannada movie KGF and Prabhas-starrer Salaar.

The makers have been building up hype and the first-look poster, with Wolverine vibes had sparked buzz online.

When will Tiki Taka release

The film was earlier touted to release in late 2025 or early 2026. But the actor has clarified in the latest video that they are in the last lap of shooting, so a release date announcement cannot be expected any time soon.

Apart from Asif Ali in the lead role, the Rohith VS film also features young star Naslen in a key role. Wamiqa Gabbi, Sanchana Natarajan, and Lukman Avaran are also said to be part of the cast.
