Telugu film release calendar is set to undergo a few changes after the postponement of Naga Chaitanya-starrer Thank You. Producer Dil Raju had announced that the film would arrive on July 22 instead of July 8 yesterday. As a result, the release of Lavanya Tripathi’s Happy Birthday, which was to hit theatres on July 15, has been advanced by a week.

Happy Birthday, which now releases on July 8, is the only major Telugu film for that weekend. This is not a bad move at all. Had it released on July 15, Happy Birthday would have had to lock horns with Ram Pothineni’s bilingual biggie The Warriorr on July 14 and its box office prospects would’ve been considerably affected for the same reason.

Written and directed by Ritesh Rana, Happy Birthday is a madcap comedy that also stars Naresh Agastya, Satya, Vennela Kishore, Gundu Sudarshan, and others. The film revolves around a gun law implemented by a union minister which wreaks havoc on a gun-themed birthday party in Hyderabad, in particular. While Lavanya plays the birthday girl, Vennela Kishore is the politico.

The team of Happy Birthday has adopted an interesting promotional strategy with the launch of its wacky character promos. The makers say that the film is set in a fantasy world and there’ll also be a coming-of-age dimension in the story. Kaala Bhairava is the composer of the film that has cinematography by Suresh Sarangam.

The film is bankrolled by Chiranjeevi (Cherry) and Hemalatha Pedamallu of Clap Entertainment while Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar Yalamanchili of Mythri Movie Makers present it. Ritesh Rana has written the dialogues and Srinivas is the art director.
