Last Friday saw as many as two big releases in Telugu. One of them was Allari Naresh's Ugram, a cop drama directed by Vijay Kankamedala and the other one was Gopichand's Ramabanam directed by Sriwass. Both the films were released on the 5th of May with decent hype in Telugu states.

The collections are out and Gopichand's Ramabanam has flopped at the box office and has no takers for it. The mass drama with a routine story and outdated action has derailed the collections. The occupancy has gone down badly and the film is out of several screens already.

Coming to Ugram, the film made close to a crore on day two as well. The film is seeing some occupancy at the multiplexes but the single screens have a sad story to tell. As the word of mouth is dull, the film is struggling and will surely fall flat once the weekday starts. As the rights have been sold for nominal prices, there won't be much damage to the makers.

On the other hand, as the word of mouth from The Kerala Story has grown, the collections have improved and more importance is being given to this film. Both Ugram and Ramabanam needed to click for Naresh and Gopichand but it looks like they need to look for better scripts to make a comeback.
