Ever since the teaser of Yash’s film came out, there’s been speculation about whether Geetu Mohandas had made a single film or a two-part saga. Does the confirmed runtime put an end to the rumour?

In the last one week, there’s been a lot of speculation surrounding Rocking Star Yash’s Toxic, once it was revealed that he was, most definitely, playing two characters in the film – Raya and Ticket. The detailing in the film’s teaser, which had Yash sporting different hairdos, tattoos and the works had also led to fans wondering if it would be possible to cram all of this into one film, leading to the buzz that Toxic could just be a two-part project. The film’s PR team, though, had negated all such speculation, calling it “factually incorrect”.

At the time, though, there was one school of thought that Toxic as a single film would be upwards of 3 hours in run-time, as Yash is expected to work on Ramayana Part 2 next, which will release in 2027. Turns out, the upwards of 3 hours run-time is actually true. Earlier today, a listing of Toxic for the American movie theatre chain AMC revealed that the Geetu Mohandas directorial will be 3 hours and 15 minutes long. This is still a good 20 minutes less than Dhurandhar and will likely be the length that the sequel, which is clashing with Toxic at the box office, will have.
Toxic, meanwhile, is said to be about set between the 1940s and 70s and revolves around a man (played by Yash) who establishes a drug cartel and a powerful criminal empire, forging his path through intense violence and fear. The film’s confirmed cast includes the likes of Sudev Nair, Akshay Oberoi, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Darrel D’silva, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Balaji Manohar and Rukmini Vasanth. There’s wide speculation that Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas is a major antagonist in the tale.

The film, which was earlier meant to be an April 10, 2025 release, was pushed ahead to Eid/Ugadi 2026 owing to production delays, given its vast scale and star-led cast. Yash serves as co-producer and writer, besides shouldering the responsibility of the film as leading man. It will be in theatres on March 19, 2026.
