The character intro teaser of Yash from Toxic, which hints at a possible A rating, has disappointed a section of fans, who wonder if the film is the Rocking Star’s Saaho

Rocking Star Yash’s character intro teaser from Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups has evoked sharply divided reactions – there is a nervous excitement about the film’s ‘Hollywood-level’ making among die-hard fans, but a large segment is also supremely disappointed with the ‘adult content’ posing as a teaser. Director Geetu Mohandas is at the centre of most of the criticism coming in the wake of the teaser, given that the visuals do not align with her views of opposing objectification of women in cinema.

The visuals and colour grading have also come under scrutiny, with netizens wondering if Geetu’s husband and fellow filmmaker Rajiv Ravi actually worked on the cinematography. “Did Rajiv really shoot this? the cinematography looks like it's for an ad, not a film. Looks like they’ve enlarged the image to fit it as 16:9, which is not giving any cinematic vibe,” wrote a netizen, to which another added that the DOP has been credited with three other films in the same time frame and is unlikely to have spent much time on the set of Toxic.
What’s interesting about the response to the teaser is that Yash fans seem to have been left speechless and have been making do by posting the fire emoji. There’s been a massive outpouring of negative comments, owing to which the film has been trending on social media for hours. While last year’s birthday teaser had been compared to a condom ad, several netizens felt that this was either an extension or an upgrade to soft porn and decried Yash’s decision to do a film with such sequences that are not for family viewing. The actor was also mocked for lifting actor Karl Urban's line from The Boys, "Daddy's home". "You ain't no Billy Butcher", wrote netizens.
The new teaser has also left a section of audiences genuinely worried for Yash, given that it has been 4 years since his monster hit KGF: Chapter 2. Toxic, they feel, will do to Yash after KGF what Saaho did to Prabhas after Baahubali. That’s definitely not a trajectory the Rocking Star would want.
