In the last few days, social media has been abuzz with all things related to Rocking Star Yash’s next release, Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups, even though the team is yet to begin full-fledged promotions. Much of the discussions have been about the film’s theatrical distribution partners and the deals that have been struck, notably the one for the AP/Telangana region, which was said to have been struck for a whopping Rs 120 cr.

As soon as the figure was revealed, there was a flurry of comments claiming that it was a highly inflated number and difficult to break-even/recover from that market. Several posts on social media claimed that the distribution rights were likely sold for a figure closer to Rs 40 cr. The fact that the overseas distribution rights for all Indian languages went at a much lower Rs 105 cr was cited as proof that it was unlikely for one language to command a higher price.

Has Dil Raju affirmed or negated the Toxic theatrical rights deal?

However, producer-distributor Dil Raju, who holds the theatrical distribution rights, has now provided some clarity, stating that he’s willing to furnish his bank statements to silence naysayers. In essence, he has verified the Rs 120 cr deal and negated claims that it is a PR stunt. He was speaking at an event for his film Markandeya, which is set for Shivaratri 2027 release.

Meanwhile, the countdown to Toxic’s March 19, 2026 release continues without an update about when full-fledged promotions will start. Fans have been hounding director Geethu Mohandas on social media to begin promotions. But could Yash be following the KGF-Chapter 2 plan, wherein there was a flurry of activity only in the two weeks prior to the film’s release?
