Even though many may agree to the fact that, the three magic words which can make anyone smile is ‘I Love You’. Well, on the day and date of 30 April 2004, it so happened that there was yet another set of three magic words which was extremely soothing and relatable. We are indeed talking about ‘Main Hoon Naa’, the three magical words which happened to be the name of the film which was directed by Farah Khan. The film went onto become one of the blockbusters at the box-office at that time. There were many factors which contributed towards the success of the film.

One of the film’s highlights was Shah Rukh Khan’s unescapable charm, style and his tough soldier but soft and caring son, brother and lover nature, which made him immensely likeable amongst the audiences. Besides Shah Rukh Khan, there was also the presence of innocent Amrita Rao, ‘clueless lover’ Zayed Khan, motherhood redefined Kirron Kher and most importantly, Suniel Shetty playing the antagonist Raghav. This was for the first time ever in his career that, Suniel agreed to play the negative character in a film. His portrayal of the ruthless ex-Army man Raghav was appreciated by many. But, did you know that, Suniel Shetty was NOT the first choice to play the role of Raghav.

As per a news report in The Times Of India, it was reported that Farah Khan, who was making her debut as a director n Bollywood, was keen to cast the legendary Kamal Haasan in the role of a rogue soldier. The report stated that Farah Khan flew to Chennai to sign up Kama Haasan for the role as she was confident that he would not say no to her. On his part, since Shah Rukh Khan had done a camo in Kamal Haasan’s ‘Hey Ram’, he too was confident that Kamal Haasan would return the favor.

But, to Farah Khan’s utter shock, Kamal Haasan turned down the offer stating that he was not interested in playing an antagonist and also an anti-national at that point of time.
