Actor Rajesh Dhruva, who plays the role of Akhil in the hit Kannada TV serial Agnisakshi, is all set to venture into new territory. After having found success on the long-running soap opera, Rajesh has made his debut as a feature film director in which he also stars in the lead role: according to a recent report by the Times of India, the film is titled Sri Balaji Photo Studio which belongs to the genre of a dark comedy.

In the same report, Rajesh Dhruva shares that he always aspired to be associated with films but he was waiting for the right time and script to make the switch. He will be playing the role of Photographer Puttu in Sri Balaji Photo Studio and going by the nature of the film, it is apparent that he is keen on being part of more novel and interesting cinema.

In the film, Rajesh Dhruva plays a photographer who lands in a pickle when things go wrong during a pre-wedding photoshoot. A majority of the film is shot in underexplored locations in Karnataka such as Yellapura, Honnavara, and Sirsi”. Rajesh Dhruva shares that the modest crew shot the film in non-stop rain which resulted in the entire team falling ill.

Sri Balaji Photo Studio was launched in a special muhurtha ceremony back in June. The film also stars Radhika Achuth Rao, Ravi Salian, Ravi Sampuru, and Sampath Shetty.

Aside from Agnisakshi, Rajesh Dhruva also played a key role (of Abhi) in the Kannada TV serial Anna Thangi but would leave the show mid-way. While the exact reason for his quitting isn’t well known, reports have suggested that it could have come in sight of his film career. Reportedly, Rajesh was also an integral part of the making of the comedy film Ikkat starring Nagabhushana, Manjunath Bhat, and Bhoomi Shetty, an Amazon Prime Video release.
