Aamir Khan and Salman Khan bring friendship, drama, and clashes to Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle. The hosts shine, but the format falters—leaving promise, sparks, and room for sharper conversations.

You can tell two people are best friends when they often share similar opinions or consistently agree to disagree. The chalk and cheese have one thing in common: mutual respect and admiration, which probably must have grown over the years. This is what I felt when I was watching Aamir Khan and Salman Khan in Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle Prime Video's (subscribers of OTTplay Premium will also be able to watch the show with a top-up) latest celebrity talk show.

The show is hosted by two of the most astute women in celluloid, who are strongly opinionated, Kajol and Twinkle Khanna, coming together and creating mayhem of sorts with their guests. Indeed, featuring Aamir and Salman in the inaugural episode was a wise decision to establish a strong foundation. They've known each other since the 1990s, so they should be friendly.
They demonstrated their bond by using the word "tu" to address each other during conversations. However, they often disagreed on serious topics, which was anticipated due to the presence of a man whose opinions are consistently outdated and unlikely to change in this lifetime.
The episode begins with Kajol and Twinkle enticing Aamir and Salman with delicious food. As soon as they lay eyes on the food, Aamir devours it while Salman suppresses his cravings. The conversation about food and the sharing of culinary anecdotes was an intriguing start to the episode. However, it becomes awkward as they try to construct a strong opening for their conversation. It still takes time, though, for the "friends" to move past the small talk and most likely become hosts and guests.
The show combines conversation and games, serving as a medium for the guests to open up. While it remains interesting to watch them, it is not as effective as one might expect.
It is a well-known fact that new talk shows often feature repetitive discussions, as they tend to revisit topics that have already been heard, savoured, and judged. The interviews ranged from Aamir, who has been featured in five-hour-long podcasts with little left to reveal about his life, to Salman, who shared only one new detail regarding his eight-year struggle with trigeminal neuralgia, resulting in a varied mix of content. The superstar even enacted how that pain felt and when it began, which left the rest of the three in shock.
What made it more intriguing is that Salman yet again proved that he will never stop changing his opinion on mental health as well as constantly showing how sexist his thinking is. At one point, the superstar claims that men have been relegated to the kitchen, yet women still have expectations of them. Kajol and Twinkle try to explain to Salman that the men are in the kitchen because they are paid. He blames them for dominating their husbands and not even being in the kitchen. However, Aamir does try to cool down the situation by stating that society finds it difficult to see the genders equally no matter what.
This continued with Salman discussing how his physical pain affected him, but he immediately dismissed the need for professional help regarding mental health, claiming that friends are sufficient. He still maintained his stand against having to deal with mental health, even when Aamir revealed that he had been taking counselling and therapy for years.
Well, that's Salman being Salman, who still believes that he's fine dressing down on screen but wants female actors to avoid doing the same, because it's against the "culture". Ultimately, all Kajol and Twinkle could say was that it is a male-dominated society.
It was anticipated that, despite the strength of Salman's opinions, others would likely make a weaker statement in an attempt to help him understand, which is ultimately futile.
If Salman dominated as a guest, it was Twinkle who won with her hosting skills. Kajol, who is primarily new to hosting talk shows, attempted to adapt to the format. It seemed that she was more authentic as an interviewee, similar to how we have seen her throughout the year.
However, Kajol and Twinkle are aware that they will not let their guard down when they are on the other side of the table, and their guests also expect them to keep their shields up constantly.
Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle is a decent start that moves beyond superficiality to engage more deeply with the guests. The approach of encouraging guests to open up through games seems very contrived, but if it keeps the guests entertained, then so be it, even if it doesn't engage the viewers. In the case of Aamir and Salman, they appeared to share a similar opinion with the viewers.
Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle is neither too little nor too late—it’s just too early to call it a game-changer. The chemistry between the hosts sparks, but the format still fizzles in parts, leaving us hungry for sharper bites. Aamir brings depth, Salman brings drama, and together they prove that friendship can survive both food fights and ideological ones. If the show learns to serve less garnish and more meat, it might just cook up a recipe worth revisiting.
