On Unni Mukundan’s birthday today, Prithviraj Sukumaran shared a heart-felt message, wishing the young star. “To dreams, aspirations and many more films together,” wrote the actor. Many who have followed Unni’s career will also know that Prithviraj in a way also paved the way for the former’s first ever lead role in a commercial film, Mallu Singh, when the latter had opted out.

This year, Unni and Prithviraj have worked in two big movies – Andhadhun’s Malayalam remake Bhramam and Mohanlal’s Bro Daddy, which Prithviraj has also directed. Bhramam will be the first to release, with it set to drop on Amazon Prime Video on October 7 in India and premiere in theatres in the rest of the world

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Unni had shared his experience of working with Prithviraj in Bhramam. “He is someone I really look up to. Though we belong to different spaces, I see how confident he is about his work. I am the same in my space. When Mallu Singh happened, it was a huge compliment for me to get a role that was meant for him. It was also a burden because both our career graphs were entirely different. I was trying to figure out what my next step was and he had already done 50-plus films. He was focused on what he wanted to achieve while I was still unclear. Now, however, I am sure about where I want my career to go for the next few years,” said the actor, who plays a cop in Bhramam.

On acting in Prithviraj’s directorial Bro Daddy, Unni said, “Bro Daddy is also the first time I am working with Raju (Prithviraj) as a director. Mine is a very crisp part. The experience of working with him has been nice. We had a great time while shooting for Bhramam and because I was also shooting in Hyderabad, where Bro Daddy is being filmed, he said it would be great if I could join the team.”
