This movie takes place in the fictional village of Bharathakkunnu. This region is known for its peculiar culture, where calling off marriages is not looked down upon but rather accepted as a festive practice. Families take pride in keeping their own children from getting married, and those who accomplish it well are awarded the 'Mudakku Dand' honour. In the meantime, a group of youths called the Valsala Club decides to protest the practice. Their protest causes tradition and modernity to collide, and the arrival of a young woman in the community further upends their objective.
