Whatever Rajamouli does is always special, and he is now shooting for the biggest film of his career, Varanasi. The shooting of the film is halfway through, and the makers have released a few interviews that the Varanasi team did with Hollywood media. Rajamouli has also done multiple interviews, and in one of them, he revealed the most challenging scene he has ever shot in his career.

Rajamouli reveals why the Ramayana episode in Varanasi was his toughest yet

The RRR director said that there is one specific episode inspired by the Ramayana in Varanasi that exhausted him to another level. “All my films are inspired by Indian epics like the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. In Varanasi, I have taken a single episode from the Ramayana, and shooting it was extremely tough. That entire episode is a culmination of multiple sub-episodes, and filming those sub-episodes itself felt like making a separate film. This was the most challenging part, and it took a lot out of us.

Each scene had to be treated differently, and the actors went through immense stress as the emotional content varied greatly. Culminating everything into a single episode was quite difficult. This episode will be one of the highlights of the film and will run for nearly 25 minutes. We shot this sequence for close to 60 days, and it has come out quite well. With technology supporting the performances, things went to another level,” added Rajamouli.

Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran play the main leads in the film, which has music composed by MM Keeravani. A fresh shooting schedule that was underway for the last few days was wrapped up yesterday. Priyanka Chopra completed her schedule and left for the US.

Ever since the promo was released, there has been a crazy buzz around the film. With Rajamouli and the team openly talking about the subject, expectations have reached the next level. The makers recently announced the release date, confirming that Varanasi will hit the screens on April 7, 2027.
