Vasanthi is a Kannada film led by Bhoomi Shetty, which released in theatres on December 8, 2023. Directed by Raghavendra Shiriyara, Vasanthi also stars Tejas Byndoor, Raghu Pandeshwar, Prabhakar Kundar, Baskar Manipal, Pratima Nayak, Niranjan Poojar, among others and is now finally headed to OTT. The film is heading to Cinebazzar OTT Digital Theatre. Vasanthi will be available on the platform from April 26, 2024.

Cinebazzar follows a cinema-on-demand format, wherein users need to purchase a ticket/coupon, the validity of which is 2 months. However, once you begin streaming a movie, there is a 24-hour timeframe within which to complete it. Vasanthi will be available at a cost of Rs 49.

The film, set in a village in Kundapura, follows the title character Vasanthi (Bhoomi Shetty), a young girl who lives with her grandfather, parents and younger brother and is the breadwinner of the family. Vasanthi works at a local cashew nut factory, the meagre earnings from which she uses to support her ailing mother, alcoholic father, while also trying to give her brother a good education. Vasanthi follows the trials and tribulations she faces along the way.

The highlight of the film, according to Raghavendra is the language of the Kundapura region, as well as the rooted nature of the story. He adds that the film is set a few decades ago, and highlights village life and how difficult it was for a young girl to run a household. Considering this, the team had focused on the Karavalli region for its theatrical release.

Speaking during the release of the film, veteran actor Prabhakar Kundar was all praise for his co-star Bhoomi and said that her role as Vasanthi will have audiences rooting for her like a member of their family. The actor plays Vasanthi’s grandfather in the film, which is his fourth collaboration with director Raghavendra.
