Vicky Kaushal says THIS about the fate of Hindi films at the box office

Vicky Kaushal is celebrating the success of his comedy-thriller Govinda Naam Mera, which  released recently on an OTT platform. The film that also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani, is Vicky’s fourth OTT release, after Love Per Square Foot, Lust Stories, and Sardar Udham Singh.

Considering that this year, Bollywood films haven’t performed as well as previous years, Vicky had an interesting and straightforward opinion on this phenomenon. The Raazi actor said, “The audience has made it evident that they want to only watch good films, regardless of the star, genre, language or scale.”

Vicky Kaushal elaborated that he thinks that unlike before, when star-power ruled, now it is good films that work, since people have made it evident that if a film resonates with them, it will receive love,  regardless of the language, genre, or scale. “Picture acchhi lagni chaahiye," he added.

The Uri actor went on to cite examples of hit films this year, such as Bhool Bhulaiya 2, Drishyam 2, RRR and K.G.F 2, and the fact that  each film is completely different from the others, but all did well.

He added that now, things have become simple for filmmakers, since the message from the audience is clear-cut: make good films and the people will respond to them with love.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Govinda Naam Mera also starrs Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar. It is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar

Vicky will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar’s biopic of former field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, which is titled Sam Bahadur. The actor also has a couple of untitled movies in the pipeline —  Laxman Utekar’s directorial with Sara Ali Khan, and the other is Anand Tiwari’s film that also stars Triptii Dimri.
