Vidaamuyarchi OTT release: Ajith Kumar’s latest film heads for Netflix premiere soon?

Actor Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi finally hit theatres this month. The film is an action thriller, directed by Magizh Thirumeni in his first collaboration with Ajith Kumar. While we had earlier reported that Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film, an OTT release date is yet to be announced by the streaming service.

Vidaamuyarchi OTT release: Ajith Kumar’s film to stream very soon?

Vidaamuyarchi is a no-frills action thriller featuring Ajith in the lead role. Directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions, the film is an adaptation of the Hollywood film Breakdown. After much delay, the film finally hit theatres on February 6.

Netflix has bagged the streaming rights of the film, and will premiere it very soon. While a release date is yet to be announced, it is expected that Vidaamuyarchi will debut on the platform by the end of this month or the first week of March. Vidaamuyarchi opened to generally positive reviews, despite being an adaptation. The ensemble star cast includes Trisha, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, Aarav, Nikhil Nair and others in prominent roles.

Vidaamuyarchi day 14 box office collection

It's been two weeks since the release of Vidaamuyarchi. Despite being a star film, it has managed to collect Rs 79 crore only so far from its theatrical run. As per Sacnilk report, the first day collections of Vidaamuyarchi were Rs 26 crore, and saw a steadfast decline in collections to single digits.

Vidaamuyarchi revolves around a couple who are on a road trip. After their car breaks down, the husband sends his wife along with a friendly truck driver and his wife, only to find that she has gone missing. Even as the film was well made and had no unwanted star glorification, the majority of fans were disappointed with the simplistic nature of the film.
