Vijay Deverakonda on ‘star kids’ and being an outsider: 'Grateful for every insult, hardship, obstacle I have faced'

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday were the latest celebrities to grace the Koffee With Karan 7 couch. During his debut appearance on Karan Johar’s couch, Vijay opened up about how he came into the acting industry as an outsider, and what he thought of ‘star kids’.

Speaking about the challenges he faced during his initial days, the actor said that it wasn’t easy to get a start in the career when one has no previous connections or access to the industry. He talked about how outsiders could feel a kind of alienation due to this.

Vijay shared his thoughts on how the world definitely wasn't a fair one, and people were born with a host of differences ranging from their financial status to their physical attributes and skills. The actor spoke of how he never criticised or blamed the people who were born into wealth or with connections in the industry, even when he himself struggled with paying his rent at times. Vijay said that it was not the star kids’ fault that they were born to parents who were actors.

He went on to speak of how one day he too might have a child who might be billed a ‘star kid’, even though it was something they couldn't help. The actor said that the world was not fair to anyone in any field, and people had to work hard to get what they really wanted. Admitting that there were some benefits to being born as a star kid, the actor said that he would not choose to alter the journey he went through in any way.“I am very grateful for every insult, every hardship, and every obstacle that I have faced in my life", he said.

Vijay will next be seen in Puri Jagannadh’s Liger, which is slated for release on August 25.
