Vinay Rajkumar’s first release of the year, which brought him back onscreen after a few years (if one is to discount 10, which came to theatres and OTT totally unnoticed), was Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe, a romantic comedy by director Simple Suni. A direct translation of the title of Suni’s debut directorial Simplaagi Ond Love Story, Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe was his first collaboration with Vinay.

Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe review: Suni serves a largely delightful rom-com that makes for a fun watch

The film, which released in theatres in time for Valentines Day, had a fairly decent reception at the box office and recently made its way to OTT as well. The film is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. For those who missed the theatrical run and do not have a Prime subscription, the film is now gearing up for its TV outing. The television premiere of Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe has been fixed for April 14 at 8 pm on Star Suvarna, as an Eid/Vishu special presentation.

Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe is centred on Vinay’s character Athishay, whose dreams are to become a music director and find the girl whose voice matches the rhythm of his heart. For the former, Athishay is on course, working as the assistant to the assistant of music director Sadhu Kokila, but as far as the latter goes, the hunt continues. Until one fine day, when he hears a voice that absolutely strikes a chord. But does Athishay find the person behind that magical voice and realize his dream or will he be stuck to a life with a partner chosen by his family?

The film pairs Vinay with RadhaKrishn fame Mallika Singh and debutante Swathishta Krishnan, while the supporting cast includes Rajesh Nataranga, Aruna Balraj among others. Shwetha Srivatsav, who starred in Simplaagi Ondu Love Story, has a pivotal cameo in the film, as does Karthik Mahesh, the winner of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 10.
